A Sky News Arabia correspondent revealed on Wednesday the key points of discussion between Syrian President Ahmad al-Shar’a, currently visiting Moscow, and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.

According to the network’s sources,

“There are significant agreements in progress between Russia and Syria, covering several strategic and military files.”

It is expected that the two sides will agree to renew Russia’s retention of its two bases — the Hmeimim airbase and the Tartus naval facility on the Syrian coast — which will play a new role in distributing Russian aid to African countries.

Additionally, arms contracts are set to be signed to re-equip the Syrian army, with a particular focus on strengthening its air defense capabilities.
