Sharaa reveals the cost of reconstruction in Syria

Syrian President Ahmad al-Shar’a is facing questions both domestically and internationally about his ability to unify a war-torn Syria and establish stability and democracy after more than a decade of conflict and destruction.

Observers say al-Shar’a faces immense challenges, including rebuilding devastated communities, protecting minorities, and lifting harsh economic sanctions imposed on the country.

In an interview with the American network CBS, al-Shar’a said:

“Syria deserves to live in peace and security, and the world will benefit from its new reality… This is a historic opportunity for the region.”

He added:

“Entering the presidential palace was not a moment of pride, but a reminder of all the evil that came from this place against the Syrian people.”
