On Monday, the Syrian Interior Ministry announced the arrest of the military prosecutor who served in Syria during the rule of former President Bashar al-Assad.
The ministry, in a statement, quoted Brigadier General Abdul Aziz Al-Ahmad, head of internal security in Lattakia Governorate, saying:
“The Directorate of Internal Security in Lattakia, in cooperation with the Counter-Terrorism Branch, and after careful monitoring and continuous surveillance, succeeded in arresting the criminal Major General Naif Saleh Dargham, originally from the village of Al-Shamiya in northern Lattakia countryside, who was involved in committing serious violations against civilians during the rule of the former regime.”
The statement added:
“The individual in question held several senior positions in state institutions at that time, including the post of military prosecutor, under which military and field courts operated during that period.”
